Plagiarism is presenting the ideas or words of another as if they were one's own. Regardless of how sources are used (direct quotation, paraphrase, or summary), it is essential to give credit for the ideas and words of others. All students receive instruction and practice in how to avoid plagiarism in their English classes. At Lutheran High School, under the demerit system, any student guilty of blatant plagiarism will be assigned two demerits on their first offense and other disciplinary measures taken.
