It’s a journey this thing called high school.  And while we may know where it begins, the destination may change significantly in four years.  Here to assist you as tour guides, travel planners, and encouraging navigators, students will find the counselors, Mrs. O’Connell and Miss Burch.  Freshmen and sophomore students work with Mrs. O’Connell to create schedules, make sense of test results, execute improvement plans, and deal with the detours along the way. In addition, she works with students who have ISP and 504 plan accommodations.  Miss Burch works with the upperclassmen as they begin to plan the next phase of their lives in the workforce, the military, or college.  Coordinating the visit of college representatives, all-school testing days, career and job shadow days, she prepares transcripts for college admission, scholarships, and job applications.  Parents play a key role in the success of a student’s journey and are encouraged to ask questions of our guidance professionals.  Common inquiries include schedule planning, grade point average and class rank information, ACT and/or SAT, financial aid processes, scholarship information, and career exploration.  While we may not have immediate answers, we will try to provide the information families need to map each student’s successful journey, culminating in the trip across the stage at commencement!
