Lutheran High School's Annual Elementary School Math Bowl

The Lutheran High School Elementary School Math Bowl is February 26th, 2022. The math bowl will be held in the Lutheran High classroom wing. The competition will begin at 10:00 a.m. Team members should be in their assigned classrooms at 9:45 a.m. for check-in. Moderators need to be present at 9:30 a.m. to prepare for the competition.

General Info about the Math Bowl: Each school may compete at any or all of the four grade levels – fifth, sixth, seventh, or eighth grade. A student may compete at his/her grade level or above, but not below. Teams are composed of up to 5 students, with 4 competing in each round. The competition for all grades will consist of six ten-minute rounds, each having four questions.

The six rounds will be composed of these categories:
Round 1 – Whole Number (including integers in 7th & 8th grade)
Round 2 – Measurement
Round 3 – Fraction
Round 4 – Geometry
Round 5 – Decimal and Percent
Round 6 – Brain Teasers

Scoring: In a given round, each school's grade level team will receive the same four questions. Five points will be awarded for each correct answer. A bonus of five points will be awarded that to any team answering all four questions in a round correctly. If any questions arise during the competition, the moderator should contact a coordinator for a final decision.

Advisors and Moderators: Each school principal should designate at least one Math Bowl Advisor. Each advisor will need to be in attendance during the entire competition. Advisors can be a parent, teacher or school administrator. Advisors are usually used as a moderator, score keeper, or helper.

Trophies and Certificates: Trophies will also be awarded to the highest point total at each grade level. Certificates will be awarded to all participants.

To participate: Please email Mrs. Rachel Koopman ( with your registration form by Wednesday, February 16th. The entry fee of $15.00 per school may be included with a mailed form or brought with you the day of the competition. Thank you and good luck to all of the participants!
