Mr. Filter was born in Adrian, Michigan. Following high school graduation, he received his diploma from Concordia River Forest. After two years teaching eighth grade in Gretna Louisiana, Mr. Filter took a call to Springfield Lutheran High School where he has remained for 33 years. He earned a masters from UIS. He is married to retired Lutheran educator Laura. We have three children Matthew in Durham, North Carolina. Meghen in Springfield and Molly in Naperville. Mr. Filter loves all Detroit sports teams as well as University of Michigan sports Go Blue! One of Mr. Filter’s favorite Bible verses comes from Deuteronomy 15:11 "For there will never cease to be poor in the land. Therefore I command you, ‘You shall open wide your hand to your brother, to the needy and to the poor, in your land."

United States History

The student will learn about the growth and formation of the United States from the inception of the country until world war two.

Contemporary World History and American Problems

The student will cover topics from world war two until the current year.

Applied Economics

The student will learn basic economic concepts combined with consumer information.

American Government

The student will study the basic concepts of United States and Illinois governments.
