Mrs. Hennig was born and raised in Lockwood, Missouri, where she attended Lutheran Elementary School and Lockwood High School.  She graduated from Concordia Teacher’s College in Seward, Nebraska, with a Lutheran Secondary Education degree in Biology and Mathematics with a coaching endorsement.  Mrs. Hennig has taught and coached at Lutheran High Schools in Detroit, St. Charles, Missouri, Edwardsville, Illinois as well as substituted and served in various part-time capacities at other Lutheran grade schools besides now serving at Lutheran High School since 2006.  Her husband Jim, is a pastor and they have 3 daughters and one son, all who have graduated from Lutheran High.  She enjoys being active, running, the outdoors, music, crafts and scrapbooking, and being with family.  While Mrs. Hennig has many favorite Bible verses, by God’s Spirit she endeavors to follow the words of Colossians 3:17, “And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.”



This course provides the student with an overview of the study of the living world as created and sustained by God. The relationship of organisms and the environment, cellular processes and heredity are investigated as well as the application of biotechnology in our world today.  Emphasis is given to classification of bacteria, protists, fungi, plants, and animals, and the basic study of the human body.  Class work is supplemented by laboratory exercises, field work, and dissections.

Advanced Biology 

This course provides the student with a more in depth study of general biology with an emphasis on ecology and environmental issues, cellular processes and genetics, and applications in the field of biotechnology.  Classification of Illinois flora/fauna will be included as a project as well as possible field studies and other laboratory work.

Anatomy & Physiology  

This course provides a study of the basic anatomy and physiology of the human body. An introduction to histology will be covered as well as the interrelationship of the major body systems. Emphasis will be given on learning proper terminology and identification of major anatomical structures and their functions.  Laboratory procedures will include microscopic investigations, dissections, and some physiological experimentation.


Pre-Algebra is a course designed to help students transition from the concrete concepts of arithmetic to the abstract concept of algebra.  The core lessons are a combination of basic arithmetic and algebra with some geometry.  Areas of emphasis include fractions, decimals, linear functions, exponents, roots, negative numbers, algebraic properties, solving algebraic equations with one variable, graphing, perimeters, areas, and volumes.
