Mr. Bade grew up as a farm boy in northern Michigan. He graduated from Concordia University in Seward, Nebraska in 1983 with a bachelor's degree in education and a concentration of physical science. In 1985, he joined the U.S. Navy and served as Lieutenant, Surface Warfare Officer, USS Alamo; Gunnery Officer/Aux Engineering Officer until 1993. In 1992, he completed his master's of mathematical sciences with an emphasis in statistics at the University of Illinois, Springfield.
Mr. Bade taught math and sciences at Lutheran High School from 1995-1997. From 1998-2001, he taught mathematics, technical physics, and chemistry at Chippewa Valley Tech College. He joined Lincoln Land Community College as math and physics instructor in 2001 and continued his career as the Mathematics Department Chair from 2001 - 2007; and as Dean of Math and Sciences from 2007 until he retired in 2019. During his tenure as Dean, he provided leadership and managed 28 full-time, and approximately 70 adjunct faculty in programs covering engineering, mathematics, and sciences, offering 42,000 credit hours annually.
Lutheran High is fortunate to have Mr. Bade teaching Geometry part-time.
