Student Council

Student Council is an active group at Lutheran High School!  This group plans social activities for the student body like dances, trips, and local activities.  Previous events include Christmas Dance, First Fling, Spirit Dance, Final Fling, broomball, glow golf, SkyZone trip, Chicago trip, Six Flags trip, movie night, Winter Jam trip, IMAX theater trip, bubble soccer, and bowling.  In addition to these social activities, Student Council is responsible for Freshmen Roundup, Spirit Week, Heart Week, and the annual chicken dinner.  The group performs service to the community as well and has assisted with Illinois Senior Olympics, Henson Robinson Zoo Zoolie Ghoulie activities, Memorial Hospital's Festival of Trees, fundraising for the American Heart Association, Camp Cilca fundraisers, Sweetheart Dance for Concordia Village residents, and several LuHi events like the brunch and career day.  Members of this group include executive officers and class representatives elected by their peers.

PROM Committee
PROM Committee

This group of juniors is responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing prom activities.  The members select a location, theme, specific decorations, and a date for the junior-senior prom.  They initially meet as sophomores and continue to work together to create a memorable night for all involved.  Any student in the sponsoring class may participate in prom committee.

Drama
Drama

The Drama Club produces three performances every school year, the Fall Play, a Madrigal Dinner, and a Spring Musical. Students get the chance to play many roles throughout their high school career and experience a little bit of everything. For those who do not want to act on stage but still be involved we have opportunities for you as well, such as working the sound and lights, costume design, set design and other backstage duties.

Speech Team

During the months of September and October, open practices are held, with the IHSA season running from November to February. Participants choose categories to perform such as; Poetry, Prose, Dramatic Interp., Humorous Interp., Dramatic Duet, Humorous Duet, Radio Announcing, Oratorical Declamation, Oratory, Special Occasion Speaking, Impromptu, And Informative Speaking. Participation in the IHSA Regional, Sectional, and State Competition occurs during February.

National Honor Society
National Honor Society

The National Honor Society is an honorary organization designed to recognize outstanding student leaders in secondary schools across the United States. Members of this organization are selected according to a system which measures the student’s performance in the areas of Academics, Service, Character and Leadership. To be eligible for membership in the National Honor Society at Lutheran High School, a student must be at least a Junior, have been at Lutheran High School for at least one semester, have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.5, have demonstrated at least 40 volunteer hours in several different tasks, have submitted a NHS Leadership Form, and be voted into membership by the faculty selection committee.  (Lutheran High School Student Handbook). Monthly meetings are held the second Wednesday of each month of the school year.

Spanish National Honor Society

Students are eligible for induction if they have earned 3 semesters of A in Spanish and if they are of honorable character.  Spanish NHS offers "healthy food" bake sales.  The money is used for the induction ceremony, induction fees, and awards. The Spanish NHS has a "Spanish fiesta" at the end of the year.

Art Club
Art Club

The purpose of the Art Club is to provide opportunities for students interested in extending knowledge and experience within the arts and beyond the regular classroom. The art club also serves as a social avenue which enables students to meet others with similar interests. Art clubs fulfill a number of other functions as well, such as learning through teamwork and dedication; sharing talents and ideas within the school community, volunteering creativity to enhance our environments and hone our artistic skills. Club members will most importantly, enjoy each other’s fellowship. The art club partakes in many activities throughout the year, including fundraising events for the art department with bake sales, face painting at sporting events, craft sales, we create banners for the school, paint a hallway mural, teacher helpers, festival of trees, projects for art contest.

Concert Band

The concert band plays three concerts throughout the school year. The Fall, Christmas, and Spring concert. In the winter, any music student has the opportunity to compete at the IHSA solo and ensemble contest and receive a rating of Division I or II.  The band will compete periodically at the IHSA Organizational contest in April

Rock Climbing Club
Rock Climbing Club

The Indoor Rock Climbing Club climbs 1-2 times/month at Upper Limits Climbing Gym in Bloomington.  Beginners through experienced climbers are always welcome to climb once or many times each year.  Students are taught basic and more advanced belay and climbing techniques according to their abilities and interest level.  We have lots of fun while challenging ourselves.  Mr. Kammerlohr is the club advisor.

Students advocate and celebrate making healthy choices on a daily basis. Throughout the school year SADD students help organize Red Ribbon Week, and work towards helping others through a social service fundraiser. 

Spiritual Life
Spiritual Life

The students involved with Spiritual Life are selected by the faculty. The students provide supportive leadership for their peers in their walk with Christ. The students also travel to local Lutheran grade schools and present a chapel service.
